Little Aisa Needs Heart Surgery
(Five-minute video version of Aisa's story is available here.)
After a season of serving the Lord at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Eric, Aisa’s father, returned to his homeland of China in 2014 to serve as a missionary in the underground church of Guangzhou. There in Guangzhou, he was blessed to meet his beloved Grace, and they got married in 2015.
The Lord blessed this amazing couple with two beautiful little girls. Annie, now age 5, was born in 2017; and Aisa, now age 3 was born in 2019.
Aisa, however, was born with two serious heart issues, a ventricular septal defect, and severe mitral regurgitation. At the age of two months, Aisa underwent her first heart surgery. Unfortunately, she suffered from severe postoperative complications including a third-degree atrioventricular block. At that point, Aisa’s doctors recommended the installation of a permanent pacemaker.
Eric and Grace rallied the prayers of their church community, and Aisa experienced a miracle. Within 40 days after the operation, her sinus rhythm was restored. Everyone was in awe and wonder, including Aisa’s doctors!
Despite the partial success of her surgery and this miraculous answer to prayer, Aisa continued to suffer from severe mitral valve regurgitation. As of November 2022, three years after the surgery, her left atrium has expanded to a dangerously large size. Her doctors have recommended that she undergo yet another surgery in the next six to twelve months.
The complexity of Aisa’s case prompted Eric and Grace to look for the best hospital and medical team to take on this surgery and all of the postoperative care. After much research and prayer, they decided that Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) would provide Aisa with the best chance for a successful operation and recovery. The doctors at BCH have recommended, as have her doctors in China, that her surgery be performed as soon as possible.
So, here is how we can all be a part of Aisa’s next miracle! The cost of the entire procedure at BCH (which is listed at the “global discounted rate”) will be about $210,000. This amount will need to be paid in full 21 days prior (April 1, 2023, as of today) to Aisa’s first appointments and surgical date (currently scheduled for April 24, 2023). Because Eric and Grace will also need to pay round trip airfare for their family of four as well as all the living expenses during their planned stay in the Boston area (anywhere from 3-5 months for all of the postoperative care), they need our help to raise a total of $250,000.
Please prayerfully consider being a part of Aisa’s next miracle by going to www.givesendgo.com/Aisa and giving what you can to help make this heart surgery possible for her and the Deng family!
If you would prefer to make a tax-deductible donation, Soma Life Inc. has agreed to provide receipts for any size donation and has pledged to transfer 100% of every gift (minus the required online processing fee of about 3%) directly to the Deng Family. If this option better fits your giving preferences, please go to www.soma-life.org and include “For Aisa” in the comment section on the donation page.
Thank you very much for a donation of any size and for your support in prayer.
